How did you bring in the new year? Were you at a big fancy party, at home or out with friends? I brought in the new year in my car driving down 131, going to work. That is the thing about being on call, you just never know when that phone is going to ring.
As I sat there at the hospital, all I could think of is that life is short and unpredictable. As much as we might try, there are no guarantees that your day is going to go exactly as planned. I can pretty much guarantee that when I start out my day that something will not necessarily go wrong but just different than planned. Im sure there are a few moms out there that try to pack way too much into their days, I do. Some days it is so nice to just be a Mom to Ollie.
I was working in the kitchen the other day and Ollie came up, squeezed his little chubby arms around my legs and grunted (his way of squeezing the stuffings out of me). Confident he did his loving well, he toddled on his way with a huge smile. Those quiet days, not packed with busyness are my absolute favorite. Time where I can learn my son, enjoy his goofiness and cherish his sweet spirit.
So for 2017, my goals are:
- To cherish the quiet times, busy times, overwhelming times and insane times.
- Let Ollie plan a day every once in a while! Complete with cars, bubbles and story time!
- Make time for those who are most important in our lives.
Well goodbye 2016 and Hello 2017! Here is to making more time for those we love and not getting too caught up in the busyness that overtakes our lives at times.
