Blind Dates…..

Sorry everyone that I missed posting yesterday. We had some unforeseen family problems last night that made me totally forget to post. Such is life right? Anyway, I wanted to share a little bit about how Ethan and I met.

Before I met Ethan, I had been dating someone for 4 years. 6 months after that breakup, I finally felt like I was ready to be me and have fun being single again. My brothers and their wives did not feel the same! So one day I got a phone call from one of my sister in laws saying that we were going out on a triple date with young men that they had worked with through the youth group at church. I was skeptical to say the least. Blind dates don’t actually turn into anything, do they?

Well the day rolled around and I was resigned to the fact that I would enjoy the company of my sister in law and try my best to get through this date. We pulled up to the house and this red headed, capri wearing stunner of a man walks out. Yup the rosy red cheeks and sheepish grin presented itself all over my face. The date was looking up already.

It was a nice day, so we all decided to bike to the park to play frisbee golf. So I’m thinking, nice leisurely bike ride……. 10 miles later, massive hills, shorts full of butt sweat and wild, white girl afro hair, we made it. Well if I didn’t impress him with this look, I didn’t know how I could do any better! He was kind as I miserably failed at frisbee golf, stayed by my side as I threw plus four or five at every hole. The man was wonderful. But I just didn’t feel like I was impressing him much at all….

We made it back to the house to finish the night with table games. Another one of my strong suits… not. As I struggled my way through Dutch Blitz and a number of other games the night came to a close. Him and his brother got up and walked to the door. He gave me this “it was nice to meet you” over his shoulder as he walked out of my life for good, I thought.

The next week I received another phone call from my sister in law saying that she had set up anther date for us. All I could think was, put this poor chap out of his misery! But at least this time it was just a double date, not a triple. We went to play tennis, and went out for pizza. The conversation flowed a little better and we got to know each other a bit more. The night ended with him asking for my number! SWOOON!!! I must have made an impression.

A few days went by and I thought, man he was just being nice asking for my number. But then I received a text. It stated something along these lines ” Hi Hannah, not sure if you remember me, but this is Ethan Bohlman. You know, the one you went out with a couple of days ago. Just wondering if you would like to hang out sometime? ” Didn’t know if I would remember him? Boy, please!

The rest my dear friends is history! Ethan and I celebrate our third wedding anniversary next week Wednesday.  It has been three amazing years of ups and downs but so worth it. By date three I realized I was in love with this man and that someday we would get married. I can’t wait to see what the next three will look like! 098IMGB4777
