Hello everyone! A lot has happened in the last two weeks! I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who read my last blog. You all are so understanding and are always quick to send a few words of encouragement. It means a lot!
With so much to touch on, the look of the blog is going to be a little different this week so bare with me!
We met with Ollie’s specialist last week Tuesday here in Grand Rapids. The appointment was a little discouraging to say the least. Our doctor was able to get the official note back from University of Michigan and it did not say what we were hoping it would. When we went in May, we were very upfront about wanting to hear what they had to say but also pretty firm on our stance to go to Boston. The surgeon that we saw, seemed to be on board with that plan. In his official note that went in Ollie’s medical record, he stated that they have care options for Ollie that should be explored before seeking out of state help. They want to do another round of sclerotherapy as well as their own debulking surgery. This is not something that we are comfortable with. In other words, we are back to square one with this. So we are stepping back for a couple of months and seeing where God takes us.
On a happier note….. We are out of pull ups! Ollie has adjusted to his new dose of medication, so no more diapers for him, even at night! He is so proud of himself and so are we!
Fourth of July!
I hope all of your holiday celebrations went well. We spent our whole day with friends and family! The Grandville parade is always on our to-do list. This was Declan’s first year to truly enjoy it. He danced with the bands and waved his flag high. It never fails to amaze me the joy and wonder that passes over this little man. Ethan and I have noticed in the past few weeks how much Declan has blossomed. His vocabulary is off the charts as well as the sass. I think we have our work cut out for us on this one! To say he is stubborn like his mama is an understatement!
We spent our afternoon at the splash pad, eating food and keeping cool. Our evening was spent lighting sparklers and watching fireworks. This year we decided to skip the crowds, (I am learning my triggers) and light our own fireworks. We joined Ethan’s good friend and made our own show. It was the best 4th of July yet! We were able to find a pair of noise canceling headphones for Declan, which made it much easier for him to enjoy the festivities. Rolling in to bed at 11pm and up at 5am for work the next morning. It was totally worth it though!
New things for the Store!
Oh my goodness! The changes at the store in the last few months are crazy! I think our biggest change is that we are expanding hours! We have made the decision to be open on Mondays instead of Sundays. This will give you guys three more hours to shop and leave us with our day of rest on Sunday. Ethan and I feel like having that dedicated day of rest is important and gives our employees a day with their families.
We have a large amount of new vendors as well! With the closing of Painted Farmgirl, we were able to provide a new home to many vendors. One that I am most excited about is bath bombs! Bath time is my peaceful time. No one interrupts and I am left to soak for however long I need to. Throwing in a beautifully scented bath bomb is a balm to my soul!
My own personal venture!
So I started my own personal venture this week. Like literally, yesterday. I have been looking into the It Works! products for a while now and finally have made the decision to start selling them. The company carries a wide variety of products geared toward a healthier you! What I am most interested in is their Keto Coffee. For me, it is a good way to start off the morning with my coffee kick but without all the sugar additives that I convince myself that I need. That being said, my blog is not a place where I will be constantly throwing these products at you, that is obnoxious and also not necessarily why you read it. But if you are interested in the It Works! products, please don’t hesitate to ask. I am new at it, but I will try my best to answer you questions. Eventually, there will be some sample size products in the store for you to buy without having to buy a complete set without knowing if you like it.
Wedding Bells are Ringing!
This weekend, Ethan’s brother Seth is getting married! We are excited to be a part of this event for our brother and his soon to be wifey, Andi! Don’t worry, pictures will be coming on the next blog!
Wow! I think I covered everything! Thanks for reading and being a part of our lives! Keep praying for our Ollie man and the decisions that need to be made in the future. As well as keep us as a couple in your prayers. Parenting, working together and trying to find time to pour into each other can be a challenge sometimes. But working hard together and striving for a better future is always worth it!
